Significant experiences are often born from a road taken by chance, when we think we’re lost, from an intuition apparently wrong. We learn more from a single error than from boring and routine perfection. The mistake is a sudden turn, the point of view that changes and reveals unusual perspectives. It is the testing of a limit, yet at the same time a desire to overcome it. He who errs is lost, and simultaneously wanders following his own idea of perfection.
The splendid luxury of creativity, in the end, lies in the beauty of an error. Creativity is reason lost. But only reason, method, constant application, competence and technique, when deeply understood and practiced daily, can ignite creativity to full flame.
Alchemists knew that well. Fools and wanderers by definition, they were inexhaustible craftsmen of dreams. For them creativity was a continual metamorphosis, unfailingly painted of gold.
